The Nokia 6230 boasts a wide range of advanced capabilities
As well as an integrated camera capable of taking pictures at a resolution of up to 0,3 megapixels, the Nokia 6230 also features a 16-bit colour screen capable of displaying up to 65,536 colours. It also includes a video player which adds the ability to record, send and receive video clips with audio, as well as receive streaming video content in 3GPP video streaming format.
High quality video and images, voice, presentations, files and music can be stored on a removable multimedia memory card. Users can also create, send and receive multpicture, MMS messages with Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) technology. SMIL technology allows users to compose multi-image messages that display text, sound and images in a pre-determined order.
The Nokia 6230 also offers Bluetooth and infrared connectivity as well as HSCSD and GPRS support, and is compatible with Nokia's 610 car kit phone and the company's own Wireless Boom Headset also announced today.
Using packet-based EDGE connectivity of the Nokia 6230, users will be able to browse the Internet with a theoretical limit of up to 236.6 Kbps, making the technology more than 4 times faster than GPRS. In addition, the Nokia 6230 has a mobile e-mail client, an xHTML browser and data synchronization capabilities to allow synchronization of PIM data both remotely over a mobile network as well as with a local Windows desktop via Bluetooth, IrDa, USB and the Nokia PC Suite.
The Nokia 6230 is also Nokia's first handset to feature Wireless Village based instant messaging with presence functionality, tying into the handset's use of calling profiles. Using this application, users can exchange SMS and MMS messages rapidly, as well as conduct instant chats with one or more participants.
Also included with the Nokia 6230 is a digital music player for AAC/MP3 music formats, letting users listen to music on the go and also set music as wake-up, alert and ring tones
